Angry mobs have set two men ablaze after a fake WhatsApp message accusing them of child abductors went viral.

The fake message alleged that three children were found dead with their abdomen sliced open and their organs removed.

It also claimed that criminals who involved in organ trafficking have invaded the country. Part of the message read:

“Please everyone be alert because a plague of child kidnappers has entered the country. It appears that these criminals are involved in organ trafficking.

“In the past few days, children aged four, eight and 14 have disappeared and some of these kids have been found dead with signs that their organs were removed. Their abdomens had been cut open and were empty.”

Angered by the message, the locals went and dragged innocent men out of the jail and carried out jungle justice by burning them alive.

Speaking on the matter, the Attorney General of the State of Puebla confirmed that the rumours were not true.

He noted that the case would be treated as murder, adding that five people have been charged for instigating the double killings and four others for carrying out the murder.
